Catherine Thompson

Catherine has been a successful executive coach for almost a decade. During this time she has worked with many highly successful business leaders supporting them to unlock both their potential and that of the individuals they lead.

Catherine set out as a successful sales person and, at the height of her career, was managing multi-million pound accounts for Cable and Wireless. Then as happens, she had one of those moments that changes life’s direction.

As part of her leadership development she was invited to attend a high level programme at the Cable and Wireless Management College, at the end of which she was unexpectedly offered a role to join the College faculty.

During her time at the College she both developed and facilitated a number of key leadership programmes for Cable and Wireless and its global subsidiaries. The time came to go it alone; with a young family, and a determination to keep a flexible career, she retrained as a business coach.

In so doing, she discovered her life purpose and where her gifts and strengths lay. As is the case when talent and opportunity unite, she very quickly got established and has never looked back.

Catherine is a very challenging coach. She quickly sees the potential in her clients and is determined in her commitment to them, to unlock it and liberate it. She is very individualistic – it has been commented upon by those she has worked with it is ‘not just a coaching process but a life experience’ being coached by Catherine.

No stranger to challenging herself, she has also launched successful parallel careers as a photojournalist and writer, even going so far as touring and performing in a show she co-wrote at the Edinburgh Fringe.

All these experiences have convinced her that there is no quick route to personal growth; it comes from a daily determination to be the best person you can be. This pragmatic but personable approach to her work has facilitated exceptional change in self-image, self -confidence and self-belief at an individual level and at an organisational level increased efficiency and personal effectiveness for her clients.

As well as her extensive training in coaching, Catherine is a practitioner in NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) holds a certificate in person-centred counselling and has recently augmented her personal development with a certificate in Transactional Analysis at the Berne Institute.

Catherine has appeared on TV and radio and has also contributed and been featured in Psychologies Magazine, She, The Saturday Times and the Times. She is a regular columnist and public speaker.
